William "Bill" Exner

William "Bill" Exner, age 88 of Mankato died, Friday, June 6, 2008 at Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Mankato.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday at Mankato Mortuary with Pastor Roger Knepprath officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m., Monday at Mankato Mortuary.

William was born on March 20, 1920 at Depot Hill, Jackson, Minnesota to William O. and Margaret (Fischer) Exner. Bill lived in the Jackson area until the age of seven and moved to Wisconsin, and lived there until his father past away. He and his mother moved to his grandparents home at the top of Main street hill in Mankato. Bill was united in marriage to Arlean Andresen on December 18, 1940 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in North Mankato. He went to work for George Pauly grain company for 27 years and during that time they moved to a farm on highway #66. Bill then drove fuel truck for Midland Corp. of Minneapolis until he retired.

William is survived by wife of 68 years, Arlean of North Mankato; one son, Arden (Gloria) Exner of Aurora, CO; one daughter, Marlean Myers of Eden Prairie, MN; three grandsons, Bill, Brett, and Michael; one granddaughter, Mindy; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
