Lenn E. Dietel, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, age 79, of Maple Grove and formerly of Brooklyn Center, died peacefully Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at St. Therese Home in New Hope.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 4201 Regent Ave N., Robbinsdale. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred.
Lenn was born on April 10, 1929 in Norwood. He was the son of Lorenz and Alice (nee Bachman) Dietel. Lenn was a 1947 graduate of Central High School in Norwood. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Lenn was united in marriage to Elsa Grunke on October 19, 1950 at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. He retired from Prudential Insurance Company in 1987.
Lenn is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Elsa; two daughters, Wendy (Bob) Friendshuh and Jody Dietel; two sons, Reed (Gloria) Dietel and Eric (Leslie) Dietel; grandson, Robbie Friendshuh; three granddaughters, Heather (Tony) Spinler, Beth (Sean) Heusinkveld, and Tara (Chris) LaHaye; 6 great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Lepel and Lorraine Maschke; also nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Reid.
