Raymond M Mortimer

Raymond Maurice Mortimer, age 94, of Mankato died Friday, May 30, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.

A private family service will be held in Mankato with burial in Maine. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Raymond was born August 29, 1913 to William E. and Grace (Ward) Mortimer in Topsham, Maine. He was united in marriage to Eleanor L. Spurling on December 24, 1935 in Long Beach, California. Raymond had a distinguished military career in the United States Navy. He served from 1931 to 1958, serving on numerous ships and retired as a Lt. Commander USN. Raymond moved from South Portland, Maine to Mankato in 2004 to be with his extended Mankato family, sister-in-law, Joan Cousins of North Mankato; nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and one great-great nephew; Raymond is also survived by a sister-in-law; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews all of Maine.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eleanor in 1989; and five brothers.
