Norbert F. Hanson, age 78 of Mankato, died Friday, May 30, 2008 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Memorial service will be 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. John Kunz officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m., Monday with a 6:30 p.m., prayer service at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation continues from 9:00 a.m., until the time of the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Echo Food Shelf.
Norbert was born on November 30, 1929 to Ingolf and O'Tillia (Benda) Hanson in Jackson, Minnesota. After graduating from Jackson High School, he served his country in the United States Army from 1951-1952 during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Patricia Gries on June 14, 1952 in Wells, Minnesota. He then worked for the Post Office in Mankato retiring after 29 1/2 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #11. Norbert enjoyed reading, traveling, and walking.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hanson of Mankato; son, Peter (Sandi) Hanson of Sioux City, IA; daughters, Peggy Hanson of Fargo, ND, and Ann Hanson of St. Peter; three grandchildren; one great grandson; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son; four brothers; two sisters.
