Myvanwy Peterson, age 87, of Rochester and formerly of Mankato, died Monday, October 12, 2009 at Madonna Towers Living Community of Rochester.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2009 at Grace Lutheran Church, Mankato, with Rev. Donohue Sarff officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Friday.
Myvanwy was born in rural North Mankato at home to Louis and Flossie (Smithson) Anderson on December 9, 1921. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1940 and attended 2 years at Mankato Business College. She married Russell Peterson in August 1945. They lived on Whidbey Island, Washington State during the war. Myvanwy worked at Mankato State University for 33 years in the business office. She enjoyed golfing, traveling, and being with her family.
Myvanwy is survived by a son, Keith (Pam) Peterson of Rochester; two grandchildren, Kim (Chris) Plautz of Sartell and Scott (Melisa) Peterson of Fargo, ND; two great grandchildren, Nicholas and Kendra Plautz; brother-in-law, Quentin Peterson; sister-in-law, Arlene (Howard) Gillson; nieces and nephews.
Myvanwy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; two brothers, Judson and Eldon; sisters-in-law, Maxine Peterson, Mary (Daufenbach) Anderson, and Bernice Bluhm; brother-in-law, Thane Bluhm.
