Lorraine Theresa Rogers of Mankato went to meet the Lord Saturday, October 10, 2009.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Following the service, cremation will take place and a private family burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Silver Lake, MN. In lieu of flowers, Mass Intentions of Memorials would be preferred.

Lorraine was born on August 6, 1935 to Joseph and Helen (Grzeskowiak) Lhotka in a farm house in Rich Valley Township, located between Silver Lake and Lester Prairie. She was raised without electricity, plumbing or phone service. Lorraine attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Silver Lake High School. She married Richard Rogers in 1961 and moved to Mankato. They later divorced. They moved to Minneapolis in 1963 and returned to Mankato in 1967 where she stayed until her death. She has been a member of Holy Rosary Parish since 1967. Lorraine worked at J.C. Penney and KDUZ radio in Hutchinson, Honeymead, Dairy Queen and MICO Inc. from where she retired in 2001 after 18 years of service.

Lorraine loved to travel and has been in almost every state including Hawaii and Alaska. She appreciated the beauty of flowers and butterflies. Lorraine enjoyed listening to country and gospel music, especially the Gaither Homecoming videos, concerts and cruises. Her favorite thing to do to relax was to walk along a beach whenever she got a chance. Line dancing also became a favorite pastime after learning it in 1992. In 2003 she became the director of the Summit Center Stompers line dance group. The Group dances at various functions and visited about every nursing home in the Mankato area putting on their Christmas show. Lorraine thoroughly enjoyed the friendly and social atmosphere of being with country dancers and gospel groups.

She worked as a volunteer for the Mankato Beginning Experience group for over ten years and nothing was as precious to her as being with family and friends. Lorraine treasured the time she spent with them.

Lorraine is survived by three sons, Phillip Rogers of Dallas, TX, James (Nicole) Rogers of North Mankato, Curtis (Monica) Rogers of St. James; five grandchildren, Colby, Kendahl, Chase, Tyler, Joseph; one sister, Dolores (Ruben) Beich of Glencoe; one brother, Floyd (MaryAnn) Lhotka of Cokato and many nieces and nephews.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dennis Lhotka of Silver Lake.
