Thelma was born May 6, 1911 to Edward and Stina (Thordson) Erickson at Lake Hanska, Brown County, Minnesota.
In Thelma's own words:
"I'm Thelma Larson, and I am a Norwegian to the core. Known as the lefse lady, I was a fabulous cook and baker (famous also for my caramel rolls and monster cookies). After graduating from high school in St. James, I chose to get married instead of going to college. I became a farmer's wife and we had two children. We handled the depression by good homemaking: canning and freezing home-grown produce and poultry. I also was an exceptional seamstress and often sewed for other people. For 19 years I was the church organist and sang in the church choir. I can play the organ, piano, accordion, and almost any instrument you hand to me. I'm one smart cookie! My sense of humor is sure to put a smile on your face."
Thelma is survived by a son, Al Larson Jr. and his wife, Carol (Sievers) of North Mankato; daughter, Glenys Thorsen and her husband, David of Bloomington; grandchildren, Vickie (Steve) Foix, Brad (Beth) Larson, Mark Larson, Beth (Rick) Kruger, Michael (Debbie) Larson, Kaylen (Terry) Gores, and Kirk (Lisa) Thorsen; 20 great grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; 5 sisters-in-law, Rosemary Erickson, LaRaine Larson, Edith Meyer, Norma (Marlin) Abbott, and B. J. Kittleson; many nieces and nephews.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Alvin Sr. in 2000; and brother, Curtis Erickson.
We have been so blessed to have her in our lives for so many years, and that she remained healthy throughout her life.
