Paul B. "Doc" Williams, 52, died Saturday, September 26, 2009, at St. Anne Extended Care in Winona, MN, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation with the family will be from 12-2 p.m., Saturday at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Lake Crystal Cemetery immediately following the service on Saturday.
A Memorial Mass will be offered on Thursday, October 1st, at 11:00 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, MN, with the Reverend Donald Lovas officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday at the church in Rollingstone from 4 - 8:00 p.m. where there will be a Christian Prayer Service at 7:30pm. Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service, Hansen Goodview Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements in Rollingstone.
The family suggests memorials may be directed to Mayo Clinic Cancer Research or the American Cancer Society.
Doc was born September 23, 1957, in Mankato, MN, to Merwin and Joan (Krause) Williams. Doc grew up in Lake Crystal, MN, where he graduated from high school in 1976. He worked at Sween Corp. and Crysteel Manufacturing in Lake Crystal. Doc attended Mankato Vo-Tech and graduated in 1986. Doc worked for 25 years at Fastenal in Winona, MN. He spent one year working for Fastenal in Evansville, IN, but returned to the corporate office in Winona and made his home in Rollingstone, MN. Doc was one of the few that received a Fastenal ring for his 25 years of employment with the company. He married Kathy Heilmann on June 16, 1991, and they had two sons, Joseph and Michael. They were later divorced. Doc was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, Winona Elks Club and the Winona YMCA. His family has fond memories of their week long vacation in Disney, how he enjoyed playing all kinds of sports, especially golf, his love for cooking, camping and spending time with his friends. Doc's sense of humor was legendary to all who knew him. But most of all he loved his sons.
Survivors include his two sons, Joe and Michael of Rollingstone, MN; his parents, Joan and Merwin of St. Peter, MN; brother, Jerry of Eden Prairie; aunt and uncle, Burt and LaVerne Williams; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harold and Emily Williams, maternal grandparents, Leonard and Arla Krause, and cousin, Jeff Barr.
