Dora L. Johnson, age 89 of Mankato, died Monday, September 14, 2009 at Mankato House Health Care Center.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2009 at Bethel Baptist Church in Mankato with Rev. Dr. David Banfield officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials maybe given to Bethel Baptist church. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Dora was born December 14, 1919 to Henry and Jennie Johnson in Lake Crystal, Minnesota. She attended Mankato State and graduated from Northwest Seminary in Minneapolis with B.R.E. (Religious Education Degree). Dora also received a teaching certificate at Eau Clair State. She spent 30 years in the mission field in Central India from 1945 " 1974. She returned to the Mankato area and worked as a pay clerk at ISJ and ended her career in a daycare school.
Dora was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Mankato.
Dora is survived by cousins, Edward and Marie Legg of Judson, Helen and Donald Lease of Lebanon, OR; friends, Bruce and Janet Johnson of Mankato and other church and community friends.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Minerva Elam.
