Marlys R Barrett

Marlys Rae Barrett, age 62, of Eagle Lake, passed away on September 6, 2009 at her home after a long illness.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake with Rev. Mary Iverson officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:30 until the start of the service at the church. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

Marlys was born March 22, 1947 to Maro and Babe (Applen) Evans in Chatfield, MN. She attended Chatfield High School and graduated in 1965. She was united in marriage to Bill Barrett on November 23, 1968. The two spent several years in Kansas City, before moving to Mankato in 1978, and Eagle Lake in 1980. Marlys worked many different jobs, but particularly enjoyed her time as a bus aid for the handicap of school District 77. Marlys greatly enjoyed watching the Vikings and the Moondogs and hosted a player for the team for several years. She also enjoyed swimming and taught her grandson, Morgan how to swim. She loved spending time with her family and maintaining the family holiday traditions.

Marlys is survived by her husband, Bill Barrett; son, Scott (Dawn) Barrett; daughter, Kimberlee (Jake) Spear; grandson, Morgan Spear; brother, Mickey (Rhonda) Evans, cousin, Sally (Jim) Todd; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
