Glenn Lester Pierce, age 75, of Mankato, died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato with Rev. Pam Serdar officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Immanuel St. Joseph's Foundation for the Oncology Department, Multiple Sclerosis Society or to Diabetes research.
Glenn was born December 18, 1933 to Lester and Pearl (Harner) Pierce in Mankato. He graduated from St. Clair High in 1952 and entered the Army in 1954. As a Crypto Specialist, Glenn earned the National Defense Service Medal as well as the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1956. Glenn graduated from Mankato Business College with an accounting degree and went on to receive his BA at Mankato State in 1962. He then worked for Melhorn-Mueller as a claims adjuster. In 1976 Glenn joined the Insurance Commissioner's staff as a field representative and later became a senior investigator for the Law Enforcement Department. He retired in 2006. Glenn was united in marriage to Donna Rochel on April 9, 1966 in Mankato. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church as well as the American Legion, Masons and Shriners. Glenn enjoyed waterfowl hunting and gardening.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Donna of Mankato; daughter, Rhonda (Chuck) Ruhoff of St. Stephen; two sisters, Donna (Jack) Hall of Mankato, LuJean (Ken) Bonge of Lincoln, NE; numerous sisters and brothers-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents.
