Mary K. Slipy, age 90, of Mankato, died Saturday evening, August 22, 2009 at Immanuel " St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 27, 2009 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. Samuel Leonard IVE officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 " 8 p.m., Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary with a 5:00 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour before the service on Thursday. Memorials may be given to VINE.
Mary was born June 8, 1919 to Julius and Wilhelmina (Rutjes) DeVlaeminck in Mankato. She was united in marriage to John J. Slipy on January 27, 1936 in Mankato. Mary was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards, baking, fishing, casino slots, and time with her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by four children, Kathleen Kinnard of Houston, TX, Raymond (Sharon) Slipy of Elrosa, MN, David (Teri) Slipy of Breezy Point, MN, John (Carol) Slipy of Hackensack, MN; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister Clara Frendt of Chandler, AZ; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends especially lifelong friend, Elizabeth "Deaf" Allen.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband John in 1993; three brothers, Allie, Pete, and Hank; son-in-law Joe Kinnard.
Mary's children want to give special thanks to Aunt Clara for her unselfish dedication and care for our mother during the last two months of her life.
