Charles Lewis Fitzpatrick, age 90, of Mapleton, died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Mapleton Community Home, in Mapleton.
Church services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will continue one hour before the service on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Mapleton Community Home or the American Kidney Foundation.
Charles was born April 6, 1919 to Edward and Catherine (King) Fitzpatrick in Westfield, Iowa. He served in the United States Army from 1942 until 1945. He was stationed in many areas, including Naples, Rome, Southern France, Central Europe, and Rhineland. Charles was united in marriage to LouElla Woltz on August 14, 1946 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He worked as an auto mechanic at Will Auto and Don Rice Auto for over thirty years. He also drove a school bus in Mapleton and worked at Orville Gartner Egg farm. Charles loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, mowing, and woodworking.
Charles is survived by his wife, LouElla of Mapleton; three sons, Ronald (Susan) Fitzpatrick of Lake Park, MN, Richard (Mary) Fitzpatrick of Mankato, and Dennis (Colleen) Fitzpatrick of North Mankato; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary Fitzpatrick; three brothers; and three sisters
