Norma D. (Pringle) Collins, 86 of Mankato, passed away August 9, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato with Rev. Dean Wolf officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4"7 p.m. on Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation continues one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
Norma was born April 10, 1923, in Mason City, Iowa, to Earl and Elsie (Blank) Pringle. She graduated from Hayfield High School. She worked in the family grocery store. Norma was a very talented musician who played piano at her local church and at a young age played with Malek's Accordion Band. She married Bernard Paul Collins on June 1, 1947. The two resided in Mankato. Norma furthered her career in music and had her own band, "Norma and the Sidemen". She also taught music for over fifty years. She loved teaching and thoroughly loved all her students. Music was her life.
Norma is survived by her brother, Dick Pringle of Mankato; brother-in-law, George Pitkin of Pine City; sister-in-law, June Collins of Mason City, IA; nieces, nephews and their families, Jean (Don) Buseman of Rockford, IA, Betty (Rick) Murray of Floyd, IA, Pat Nelson of Charles City, IA, Tom (Sandy) Pitkin of Bradenton, FL and Angela (Rich) Smith of Beaverton, OR.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; parents; sister, Bonnie Jean Pitkin; and sister-in-law, Mary Pringle.
