Henrietta Alida Fleming, age 85, of Mankato and formerly of Garden City, died Monday, August 3, 2009 at Pathstone Living Center, in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 6, 2009 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Vernon Center with Rev. Brian Sutton officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday with a 4:45 p.m. rosary service at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will continue one hour before the service on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery in Vernon Center. Memorials may be given to St. Matthew's Catholic Church.
Henrietta was born March 23, 1924 to Henry and Gertrude (Nissen) Noy in Vernon Center, Minnesota. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1942 and attended Mankato Commercial College. She was united in marriage to Morris Fleming on January 14, 1946 in San Francisco. The family lived in many locations on the East Coast with the U.S. Navy before returning home to Minnesota. Henrietta worked in various places as a secretary and retired from Mankato State University. She was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, gardening, and spending time with family.
Henrietta is survived by her children, Michael (Marilyn) Fleming of Longmont, CO, Theresa Fleming of Maplewood, MN, Thomas (Patsy) Fleming of Mankato, Barbara (LaVerne) Simonson of Eagan, MN, Patrick (Lorene) Fleming of Pine Island, MN, Steven (Jill) Fleming Oakdale, MN, Phillip (Sandra) Fleming of Ramsey, MN, and Rosemary (Brett) Buer of Dawson, MN; two sisters, Marie (Irle) Gusa and Rose Corey both of Rochester; 22 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her husband, Morris in 1998; son, Richard in 2004, and sister, Kathleen.
