Elmer LeRoy Boeke, age 85, of Mankato, died Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
Memorial service will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2007 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in North Mankato, with Rev. Gary Wong officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society or the American Cancer Society. Mankato Mortuary handled the arrangements.
Elmer was born on August 30, 1922 in Owatonna. He was the son of Walter and Rose (Sheldon) Boeke. Elmer was united in marriage to L. Gladys Summers on June 12, 1943 in Nicollet. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Elmer was employed with Twin Dairies in Nicollet and later with AMPI in New Ulm. Elmer also was the owner of Ed's Cafe in Nicollet. He was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in North Mankato. Elmer enjoyed fishing with Gladys and taking his dog, Shady for walks.
Elmer is survived by his daughter, Candace Woods (special friend, Richard Anderson) of Mankato; son, Elmer E. "Butch" (Robin) Boeke of Mankato; three grandchildren, Michelle (Gwyn) Hoehn, Kurt (Michele) Hoehn, and Rachel (Jeff) Bartleson; four great-grandchildren, Andrea, Leona, and Ehren Hoehn, and Ragna Bartleson; two sisters, Barbara Oachs and Irene (Wes) Ward; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys in 1997; granddaughter, Ragna Anne Boeke; two brothers, Gerry and Theodore Boeke; two sisters, Lillian McMichael and Geraldine Boeke.
