Donald Pettis Flowers, age 68, of Lake Crystal, died Monday, December 31, 2007 at St. Peter Community Hospital.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2008 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mankato with Pastor Conrad Vine officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4"8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
Donald was born May 6, 1939 in St. Peter to Bill and Ida (Birr) Flowers. Don was employed with North Star Concrete, The Dotson Company, and Collis Mobil in Lake Crystal. Don married Karen Struck in St. Peter on August 6, 1958. Karen died in 1988. On December 15, 1990, Don married Janice Stiles in Lake Crystal. Don was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal and was a current member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mankato. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, playing cards and taking trips to Branson. Don was definitely a people person, visiting with everyone. He also had a very positive attitude, maintaining high spirits while fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was well loved by his family and friends and will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Jan of Lake Crystal; children, Jeffrey (Deb) Flowers of Mankato, Julie Johnston of Garden City, Deborah (Ron) Wagner of Mankato, Scott (Janelle) Flowers of Courtland, Brad (Roxanne) Flowers of St. Clair, Brian (Nicole) Flowers of Mankato, Angie (Scott) Zappa of Coon Rapids, Chad Stiles of Hawaii; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Orange (Barb) Flowers of Mankato, Arnold Flowers of Mankato, Carl (Rosie) Oehler, Jr. of Cleveland, Annie (Greg) Meyer of St. Peter; numerous nieces and nephews, including Heather Risinger (Dale) of Colorado.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Karen; and brother, Raymond.
