Kenneth Carl Ganzel, age 74, of rural Mankato, died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at his home from cancer.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 31, 2007 at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, with Rev. Rudolph Maurer officiating. Burial will be in Decoria Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. on Sunday at Mankato Mortuary and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church of Good Thunder or to an organization of the donor's choice.

Kenneth was born on July 7, 1933 in Mankato to Carl and Irma (Schumacher) Ganzel. He was a 1951 graduate of St. Clair High School. Kenneth served his country in the U.S. Army from January 1955 to January 1958. He was united in marriage to Margaret Sombke on April 7, 1959 in Good Thunder. They resided in rural Decoria Township where they farmed until their retirement. Kenneth was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder. His enjoyments in life were family and farming.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Margaret; mother, Irma Ganzel; and sister, Arlene (Arthur) Coopman, all of rural Mankato; foster son, Daniel Bohlke of Poquoson, VA; nephew, Douglas (Ramona) Coopman and their family, Christopher, Natalie, and Emily (Clayton Hoehn) of Mankato; nephew, Darrel (Carla) Coopman and their family, Megan, Lindsey, Mitch, and Dustin of Monticello; nephew, Dennis (Michelle) Coopman and their son, Alex of Good Thunder; niece, Kathleen (Wesley) Comnick of Good Thunder and their family, Clint (Nicole) Comnick and daughter, Elizabeth of Apple Valley and Lori (Terry) Bangert of Good Thunder; niece, Karen (Ben) Seppmann and their son, Paul of Prior Lake; aunt, Eleanor Sargent of Mankato; brother-in-law, Marlin (Beverly) Sombke of Good Thunder; niece and godchild, Christine (Kevin) FitzSimmons and their family, Ashley, Jessica, and Megan of Good Thunder; nephew, Paul (Ellen) Sombke and their sons, Joshua and Samuel of Good Thunder; great nephews, Luke and Marc Sombke of Mapleton; aunt, Gertrude Marks of Good Thunder; godchild, LeAnn Solie of Mapleton; also many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl in 1996; nephew, John Sombke in 2003; and great nephew, Oliver Coopman in 1984.
