Emily B. Roeder, age 102, of Mankato, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Oaklawn Health Care Center.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Mankato Mortuary, with Rev. Daniel Basel officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in North Shore Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hagar Shores, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to WEL and ELS Christian Education.
Emily Bertha Roeder was born on October 10, 1905 in Lake Township near the town of Baroda, MI. She was the daughter of Martin and Adeline (Maier) Marske. Emily was united in marriage to Edgar T. Roeder on July 5, 1930 in South Bend, IN. Emily assisted Edgar with their farm, and later worked at various grocery and clothing stores.
Emily is survived by her daughter, Gertrude "Trudy" Ann Wiechmann of Mankato; daughter-in-law, Janet Roeder of Decatur, MI; nine grandchildren, Ruthann (Bill) McGowen of Tucson, AZ, Mark (Nancy) Wiechmann of Mankato, Darilyn (Peter) Larson of Cologne, Christine (John) DeBruzzi of Carlisle, MA, Timothy (Beth) Wiechmann of Savage, David (Ann) Wiechmann of Plymouth, Tracy (John) Kane of Hopkins, Jill (John) Karkazis of Western Springs, IL, and Kristin (Steve) Friedman of Valrico, FL; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ida Schneck of St. Joseph; sister-in-law, Clara Roeder of Elkhart, IN; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edgar in 1990; son, Myron Roeder; great-granddaughter, Samantha DeBruzzi; son-in-law, Rev. Glenn Wiechmann; six sisters and three brothers.
