Evelyn Marie Thomas, age 86, of Mankato died Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Mankato Mortuary with Rev. Penny Johnson officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service on Wednesday. Private family burial will be in Cambria Cemetery.
Evelyn was born March 1, 1921 to Arthur and Mary Alice (Peterson) Jones in Judson Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Owen R. Thomas on November 10, 1940 in Cambria. They lived in the Cambria area until 1956 when they moved to Mankato. Evelyn worked at Dennison - Johnson Inc. in Mankato and did housekeeping for many years. Evelyn was a member of the Cambria Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed playing basketball in her youth, crafts, sewing, gardening, and flowers.
Evelyn is survived by four children and their spouses, Stanley and Barbara Thomas of LeSueur, Patricia and Roger Bahr of Waseca, Lonnie and Linda Thomas of Mankato, Barbara and Richard Volkmer of Janesville; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Vivian Walters and Doris Thomas both of Mankato, Katherine Thomas of Florida, Gertrude Jones and Eunice Jones both of New Ulm; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Owen in 1991; four brothers, Ray, Vian, Wendell, and Les.
