Elaine E. Welsch, age 68, of Lake Crystal, died Monday, December 10, 2007 at Lake Crystal Health Care Center.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 14, 2007 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal with Rev. John Wilmot officiating. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, December 13, 2007 with visitation to follow until 7 p.m. at Lake Crystal Mortuary, then will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Lake Crystal Cemetery.

Elaine was born April 7, 1939 to Earnest and Ottie (Sparrow) Starr in Minneapolis, MN. She was united in marriage to Anthony Welsch on June 11, 1957 in Clements, MN. Through the years, Elaine worked at the Clements elevator, Midtex in Mankato, Tony Downs in Madelia, and retired from the Lake Crystal Health Care Center. In 1976, she and her family moved to Lake Crystal. In the past two years Elaine was in the care of her daughter Becky and son-in-law Chris Rathman which she resided at their home in rural St. James.

Elaine loved to play cards with her two buddies, Betsy Hutchens and Mary Wolle, knitting, sewing, bird watching, The Vikings, and spending time with her family and her friend, Dan Nugent. She was also a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.

Elaine is survived by her six children: Lois (Rick) Ullrich of Lake Crystal, Susan Welsch of Eden Prairie, Cindy (Doug) Riewe, Steven (Paula) Welsch, John (Bridget) all of Lake Crystal, Becky (Chris) Rathman of rural St. James; twenty five grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Starr of Redwood Falls; one brother-in-law, Russel (Helen) Welsch of Clements, MN; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Fred Welsch of Springfield, MN; a brother-in-law, Clarence Schultz of Lake Crystal; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, many special friends including a family friend, Larry Gruendemann of Redwood Falls, and her cat, Nellie.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony, parents, grandparents, two sisters, six brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
