Armella Theresa Kellen, age 92 of North Mankato, died Friday, November 30, 2007 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Ted Hottinger, S.J. officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary with a 6 p.m. rosary. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor's choice.
Armella was born September 3, 1915 in Iona, Minnesota to Joseph F. and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Disch. She was a graduate of St. Columba School. She was united in marriage to Leo J. Kellen on June 26, 1939 in Iona. They resided in Aston, IA and St. Peter, MN prior to their move to Mankato. Armella was a homemaker and worked along side her husband in his manufacturing business. She enjoyed card playing, bowling, sewing, and crocheting afghans as gifts for her family. Armella was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Leo Kellen of North Mankato; daughter, Joan Kellen (Joe Postels) of North Mankato; two sons, James (Clarice) Kellen of Memphis, TX, Thomas (Mary) Kellen of Hendersonville, NC; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rita McDonald of Duluth, Alvina Crowley of Iona; three brothers, Joe (Florence) Disch of Slayton, Eugene (Eleanor) Disch of Duluth, John "Jack" (Mary Ann) Disch of Fairfield, OH; numerous nieces and nephews. Armella was preceded in death by her parents; son, Anthony; brother, Gordon; sister, Viola Laird.
