Charles Segurd Mark, 90, of International Falls, changed his address to paradise, Monday, November 12, 2007, at Oak Lawn Health Care Center, Mankato, MN.
A Memorial Service will be held on November 20, 2007 at 2:00 P.M., at Zion Lutheran Church in International Falls, MN. The Rev. Stephen Olson will preside. The family will greet friends and family after the service. A private family burial will be at the Indus Cemetery, Indus, MN.
Born September 6, 1917, at home, in Debs, near Bemidji, MN, he was the son of the late Julius and Elisa (Weno) Mark and the husband of the late Martha Edith Ericksen Mark (Married September 11, 1945). He left Debs in his early teens and worked as a farm hand in the Dakota's as well as Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Army for five years and was Veteran of World War II. In the late 1940's, he enjoyed working as a sales associate for the J.C. Penny Company in International Falls. He was retired from Boise Cascade. He took early retirement to care for his devoted wife, Martha. Charles enjoyed farming and met his sweet Martha while working as a farmhand for her father, in Indus MN. For most of his life, he operated a hobby farm and did some logging, in addition to his other employment working for Koochiching County mowing ditches, and as a handyman for Bremer Bank.
He will be dearly missed by his two daughters and son; Charyl and her husband, Don Korpal of Mankato, MN; Randi Mark and her friend David Godin formally of International Falls and currently residing Mankato; and Charles Arthur Mark of Little Fork, and his children Cory and wife, Jamie Mark; Margo and husband, Jeff Oveson; Cody Mark; Dustin and wife, Tiffany Mark; Lacey Mark; and Alison Harala. He is also survived by his great grand children, Alexis Oveson; Hanna and Colby Mark; Rylee and Easton Harala; and Mike and Abby Oveson. Also surviving are two sisters, Ruth Hasse of Stillwater, MN, and Alma Blake of Tacoma, WA.; many affectionate nieces and nephews; and loving friends. Since his wife passed away, he received tender care from his daughter Randi. After a stroke in August 2005, he moved to a long term care center in Mankato, MN, so both Charyl and Randi could oversee his care.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Martha Edith (Ericksen) Mark (May 17, 2001), his parents Julius and Elisa (Weno) Mark, sisters Anne Moe (WA), Elle Peggar (Loman, MN), Henriette Mason (Grand Rapids, MN) and brothers John Mark and Peder Mark both of
