Mabel Myrtle Heller, age 88 of Mankato went to her heavenly home, secure in her faith, on Monday, November 12, 2007 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 16, 2007 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato with Rev. Gary Wong officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Mankato Mortuary. Memorials are preferred to Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospice or to an organization of the donor's choice.
Mabel Myrtle Behrens was born February 22, 1919 to Herman and Relda (Eickhoff) Behrens in Fraser Township, Martin County, Minnesota. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Fraser Township on March 16, 1919 by Rev. Heinrich F.H. Prodoehl. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Fraser Township on March 20, 1932 with Pastor A.M. Beck presiding. She was a graduate of Welcome High School and Mankato Beauty School. Prior to her marriage she co-owned a beauty shop. She was united in marriage to Woodrow Herman Heller on October 20, 1945 by Pastor A.M Beck at the Lutheran Parsonage in Fairmont. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato for nearly 60 years.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Nada Foede and John of Lake Jefferson and Marlene Faugstad and Mark of Mankato; three sons and their wives, Lyle and Eileen Heller and Paul and Rita Heller all of Mankato, Dale and Barbara Heller of North Mankato; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Buchmeier of Lander, WY, Darlene Majewski and husband Richard of Faribault, Betty Behrends and husband Jack of Fairmont; brothers, Earle Behrens and wife Dorothy of Fairmont, and Dennis Behrens and wife Ann of Granada; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Woodrow in 2000; and siblings, Bonnie Baago, Lloyd Behrens and Verne Behrens.
