Evelyn D. Maurer, age 100, of Lake Crystal passed away, Monday, November 5, 2007 at the Lake Crystal Health Care Center.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, November 9, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. Nancy Dreier officiating. Private burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before service at church on Friday. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to Zion Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxillary Post 294, American Cancer Society, or donor's choice.
Evelyn was born February 3, 1907 to Ebenezer and Kathryn (Brayman) McMahan in Beauford. She was united in marriage to Arnold Maurer on August 23, 1938 in Beauford. They farmed in Beauford and Gaylord before moving to Lake Crystal in 1952. She was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family. Evelyn was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, and American Legion Post 294 Auxillary of which she was a honorary lifetime member. Evelyn enjoyed music, reading, and flowers.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Gordy) Edberg of Langley, WA; daughter-in-law, Dorothy "Dot" Maurer of Lake Crystal; five grandchildren, Michael (Jody) Maurer of Lake Crystal, Kyle Edberg of Kennewick, WA, Timothy (Diana) Maurer of Farmington, Kim (Alex Rule) Edberg of Seattle, WA, and Nan (Josh) Larson of Apple Valley; eight great-grandchildren, Kiana, Lane, Cade, and Brooke Maurer, Nyah and Kalyn Maurer, Liam and Declan Rule; nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold in 1980; her son, Jerome "Jerry" in 2006; two infant sisters; four sisters, Nola, Grace, Cora, and Echo; two brothers, Ebenezer and Robert.
