Edna Emma Heiser, age 94, of North Mankato, died Wednesday morning at her home surrounded by her family on her 94th Birthday.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2007 at the United Church of Christ, New Ulm with Rev. Hank Campbell officiating. Burial will be in New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before service at church on Saturday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Edna was born October 30, 1913 to Fred and Alvina (Schaefer) Zimmermann in Stark Township, Brown County, Minnesota. She was raised on the family farm and moved to New Ulm in August of 1926. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran School and graduated from New Ulm High School in 1932. She was employed by J.C. Penney Co. from her graduation until her marriage to Walter P. J. Miller on June 19, 1934. She was employed by J.C. Penney for 10 years and Dannheim's Dairy for 21 years. Edna married Irwin H. "Shorty" Heiser on October 11, 1969. They lived in Lake City, MN from May 1978 until April 1995 when they moved to Mankato, they wintered in Mesa, AZ for 26 years. She enjoyed sewing, bridge, and was active in the Mankato Red Hats.
Edna is survived by her five children, Betty (James) Albright of Lake City, MN, Doyle (Luella) Miller of St. Paul, Carol (Gary) Gilbertson of Faribault, JoAnn (Wallace) Quitmeyer of Hermitage, TN, Fred (Ann Steiff) Miller of Mankato; twelve grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Edna was preceded in death by parents; husbands, Walter Miller and Shorty Heiser; brother, Arthur Zimmermann; and sister, Alma Milbrett.
