Joyce M Hughes

Joyce Margaret Hughes, age 59 of Lake Crystal, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2007 at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal with Rev. Randal Lubbers officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

Joyce Margaret was born February 13, 1948 in Freeland, Michigan to Wm and Lil (Mott) DeLeeuw. She moved to Lake Crystal in 1960 and graduated in 1966. On August 18, 1967, she married Wayne Hughes. They made their home in Lake Crystal and had three children. Joyce received an associate degree from Mankato VoTech in business administration. She was employed with V-TEK as an administrative assistant. She was the voice of V-TEK for 11 years. Joyce was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal who loved teaching Sunday school and working with the Cradle Roll. She was passionate about crocheting and knitting and enjoyed giving afghans as gifts.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Wayne of Lake Crystal; children, David (Mandi) Hughes of Gallatin, TN, Judy (Steve) Smith of Gallatin, TN, and Jim Hughes of Lake Crystal; six grandchildren, Will, Kaitlin, Gracie Jo Hughes and Hanna, and Hailey Colemer, Alyssa Smith; siblings, Mary (Harlan Christianson) DeLeeuw of Sinai, SD; BJ (Steve) Dreyer of Mankato, Karen (Tom) Whitehead of Phoenix, AZ, Charlie (Debbie) DeLeeuw of Piedmont, SD.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Bill, and mother-in-law, Clara.
