Vincent Alphonse Embacher, age 72 of rural Mankato, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at his home.
Memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday October 27, 2007 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Clair, with Rev. Robert Schneider officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at church on Saturday. Military honors by Mankato American Legion and VFW 950. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or ISJ Hospice.
Vincent was born August 8, 1935 to Max and Mary (Widman) Embacher in Mankato. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1953. Vincent was united in marriage to Jeanette Wolfrum on January 10, 1959 in Stratton, CO. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Florida, Idaho, England, and Thailand before retiring as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service. He then was employed by Midwest Electric retiring in 1998. Vincent was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, VFW 950, and the American Legion. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards, camping, spending time with his grandkids, and helping friends and family with construction projects.
Vincent is survived by his wife, Jan; son, Mike Embacher and wife, Barb all of rural Mankato; daughter, Missy Smith and husband, Scott of Hudson, WI; five grandchildren, Danielle, Jacob, and Katerina Embacher, Samson and Isabella Smith; four siblings, MaryAnn Pongratz, Maxine Griffin and husband, Mike all of Mankato, Carl Embacher and wife, Linda of rural Mankato, Richard Embacher and wife, Irene of New Ulm; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Vincent was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William; and a brother-in-law, Frank Pongratz.
