Edna J. Owens, age 88, of rural Lake Crystal, died Saturday, October 20, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.
Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Mankato Mortuary with Rev. Randal Lubbers, officiating. Private family burial will be in Minneopa Cemetery, rural Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to an organization of the donor's choice.
Edna was born December 30, 1918, the oldest of seven children, to Joseph H. and Myrtle (Davis) Owens on the family farm in Judson Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. She attended Four Corners School, Judson Township and then graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1936 and from Mankato Commercial College. She had been employed by Federated Insurance Company in Owatonna for several years and at her brother's drive inn in Lake Crystal. She then worked as a office manager and bookkeeper for several businesses in the Twin Cities including, Nickels and Smith Insurance and Perry Refrigeration before retiring. She was a former member of Salem Presbyterian Church, rural Lake Crystal and Westminster Presbyterian Church, Minneapolis. She enjoyed flower gardening, antiques and dishes, cooking, taking care of her family and her trip to Wales.
Edna is survived by two brothers, Raymond Owens and Glen Owens of rural Lake Crystal; sister, JoAnn Davis and husband, Oryle of Medford; sister-in-law, Helen Owens of rural Lake Crystal; two nieces; five nephews; many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Robert, Lee, and Donald.
