Thomas "Tom" Hood, age 52, of rural Lake Crystal, died peacefully Sunday, October 21, 2007, at his home surrounded by his family.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at the First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. Randal Lubbers, officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday at Cambria Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to an organization of the donor's choice.
Tom was born March 1, 1955 in Gaylord, MN to Ralph and Elaine (Thomas) Hood. At the age of 5, Tom and his family moved to Judson and a few years later to the rural Lake Crystal area. Tom graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1973 and later from South Central Technical College. On September 21, 1989, Tom married Lori Thomas and had two children, Eric and Kelsey. Tom was employed with Perfecseal for 25 years as tooling supervisor. Tom was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal, Sons of the American Legion, past president of the LCWM Wrestling Booster Club, and volunteer wrestling coach. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, house remodeling, and spending time with family and friends.
Tom's family members include his wife, Lori and their two children, Eric and Kelsey all of rural Lake Crystal; two sons who are blessings from a previous marriage, Ryan Hood of Madelia and Jacob Hood and special friend, Lyssa Bateman of Madelia; grandson, T.J. Hood; mother, Elaine Hood of Lake Crystal; two sisters and their husbands, Sylvian and Loren Steffensmeier of Nicollet, Robin and Jim Freyberg of rural Mankato; two nieces, Julia and Kathryn Freyberg; father-in-law, Harland Thomas of Madelia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim Thomas of Madelia, Ann Nehowig and husband, Kelly of Maple Grove, Randy Thomas and wife, Pam of Madelia, Jay Thomas and wife, Kim of Madelia, Brenda Sandberg and husband, Mark of St. James, Joel Thomas of Madelia, Cory Thomas and wife, Laura of New Ulm; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Ralph and an infant brother.
