Sister M. LaDonna Wojciak, SSND, died Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at Good Counsel Convent, Mankato, Minnesota, at age 70.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in Good Counsel Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Good Counsel, with Vespers in the chapel at 7:00 p.m. Visitation is also one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge.
Sister M. LaDonna (Mary Lou Wojciak) was born in Minneapolis on October 13, 1937, to John and Helen (Olejar) Wojciak. Following graduation from Good Counsel Academy in 1955, she entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Mankato and took First Vows in 1957. Following 20 years of teaching in grades 1 through 8 in elementary schools in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Iowa, she served in a variety of capacities.
She served on the resident staff at Good Counsel Academy and Good Counsel Education Center, as Tribunal Advocate in the Rockford, Illinois, Diocese, at Maria Shelter in Chicago, receptionist at East Side Neighborhood Service in Minneapolis, as administrative assistant at VINE in Mankato, as resident health care aide at Mankato Lutheran Home and in secretarial service at Good Counsel Motherhouse. For the past seven years she worked in Sisters Care, caring for the aged and infirm in St. Paul. Over the years she earned a B.A. in Biology from Mount Mary College, Milwaukee, and following graduation, she did further study at Loras College, Dubuque, Mankato State University, Mankato Vocational Technical School, and Rasmussen Business College.
Sister is survived by her mother of Minneapolis, by her brother James Wojciak of St. Louis Park, and by her Sisters in Community, the School Sisters of Notre Dame. She was preceded in death by her father.
