Miss Barbara Jean Lamson, age 70, of Mankato, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Harry Meyering Center in Mankato, MN.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Steve Kosberg officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Saturday.
Barbara Jean was born March 10, 1937 to Harrison and Ethel (Schmidt) Lamson in Mankato. From 1970 to 2002 Barbara Jean was employed by MRCI. She was a member of LEEP, Special Olympics, attended Natural Surroundings, attended Camp Courage, and was a bowling league member. She enjoyed baking brownies and cakes, swimming, playing cards and bingo. Barbara Jean was a charter member of St. John's Episcopal Non-denominational Sunday School Class for people with disabilities. She loved the Bible stories and songs. Not only did she love to receive cards and gifts but she enjoyed giving them as well, she put a smile on everyone's face. She was a much loved Aunt "B.J."
Barbara is survived by her sister, Nancy (Florian) Portner of New Ulm; brother, David (Barbara) Lamson of Mankato; three nephews, Brian (Nettie) Portner of Sioux Falls, SD, Lee (Julie) Portner of New Ulm, Chad Lamson of Anchorage, AK; one niece, Patricia Lamson of Schweinfurt, Germany; great-niece, Jamielle Lamson-Buscho; two great nephews, Alexander Poeschel and Dylan Portner; special friend and job coach, Tom Maloney; and all the special staff at Harry Meyering Center.
Preceded in death by her parents.
