Mabel P. Johnson, age 97 of Mankato, died Monday, October 8, 2007 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 11, 2007 at Mankato Mortuary, with Rev. David Banfield officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary on Thursday.
Mabel was born April 1, 1910 in Belgrade Township, Nicollet County. She was the daughter of J. Albert and Nanny (Tanquist) High. Mabel was a 1928 graduate of Mankato High School and attended Mankato Commercial College. She was united in marriage to C. August Johnson on October 12, 1940 in Mankato. Mabel was a homemaker for her family and assisted August with their farm. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and also attended Grace Lutheran Church. Mabel enjoyed gardening, reading, knitting and needlework.
Mabel is survived by her two sons, John (Cathryn) Johnson of North Mankato and Duane Johnson of St. Paul; two grandsons, Mark Johnson of North Mankato and Adam Johnson of Plymouth; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary, and Laura Lee; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, August in 1990; four brothers and five sisters.
