Mary Pat Fasnacht, age 60, of Madison Lake passed away at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2007 at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake with Father Syl Brown officiating with Father Robert Schneider and Father Matt Fasnacht concelebrating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Madison Lake. Visitation will be held from 3 " 9 p.m., Sunday, September 30, 2007 at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake with a 7:00 p.m., prayer and rosary service. Visitation continues one hour before the service on Monday at the Church. Memorials may be given to Hope Lodge in Rochester, ISJ Hospice program, or the donor's choice.
Mary Pat was born to Charles and Marguerite Peterson in Waseca on August 30, 1947. Mary Pat was the oldest of five children and grew up on Dell Oak Knoll in West Mankato. Mary Pat attended St. Peter and Paul grade school and graduated from St. Joseph the Worker grade school. She attended Good Council Academy as a freshman and sophomore and then transferred to Loyola High School and graduated in 1965. She graduated from Mankato State College, Magna Cum Laude, in 1969 with a degree in Spanish and Library Science. She married Richard H. Fasnacht on April 19, 1969 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in West Mankato. She started her teaching career at Wooddale Elementary school in Edina. Mary Pat was a long time Spanish teacher and Librarian for Cleveland Public Schools. She retired from teaching due to her health concerns in May 2005. Mary Pat was a lover of all things Spanish and led four trips of Spanish students to Spain in the late 1990's. Mary Pat loved her family, friends and had a strong religious faith. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and St. Ann's Altar Society, Christian Mothers and Eucharist Minister.
She is survived by her husband Richard H. (Dick) Fasnacht of Madison Lake; two daughters and their husbands: Ann and Jim Conrad of Shakopee and Tracy and Robb Huber of West Mankato, and daughter in spirit, Marta Artime Guzman of Madrid, Spain. She is also survived by brother John C. (Chuck) and Helen Peterson of Madison Lake; sisters Kathleen (Kathy) and Gary Fostner of Eden Prairie; Margaret (Peggy) and Tom Newell of Albert Lea; and Ann and Dr. Bryan Johnson of North Mankato. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles: Pat and Gene May of St. Clair; Jack and Peggy Sexton of Socorro, New Mexico; and Mary Jane McInerny of Victoria, MN. She is survived many brothers and sisters-in-laws, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Marguerite Peterson in 2006.
