James Leon Burns, age 65, of Mankato died September 7, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at Mankato Mortuary. Private family burial will be in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery, Mankato.
Jim was born March 23, 1942 to Robert L. "Bob" and Marguerite (Connelly) Burns in Mankato. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1960. Jim was united in marriage to Pam Jornlin on June 1, 1968 in Mankato. Jim worked in the Mankato area as a police officer, police detective, and truck driver. He enjoyed spending time raising poultry and traveling to several poultry shows each year. Jim loved riding motorcycles and was involved with the 4-H poultry program on the county and state levels. He will be remembered by family and friends as a great story teller and a delight to his grandchildren whom he always kept laughing.
Jim is survived by his wife, Pam; son, Joe (Deb) Burns; daughter, Jessica (Brent) Busch; four grandchildren, Aaron and Mackenzie Burns, Jackie and Anna Busch; mother, Marguerite Burns; sister, Jane (Allen) Nelson; brother, Charlie (Deb) Burns; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim was preceded in death by his father.
