Bonnie Marie Johnson, age 66, of Mankato died Monday, September 3, 2007 at Mankato House Health Care Center.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2007 at Grace Lutheran Church, Mankato with Rev. Joel Erickson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Friday. Memorials may be given to an organization of the donor's choice.

Bonnie was born September 28, 1940 to Herbert Herman and Ada Marie (Carpenter) Kaiser in Mankato. She graduated from Florence Union High School, Florence, AZ in 1958 and from McConnel Airline School in Minneapolis. She was united in marriage to Marlin V. Johnson on February 6, 1960 in Mankato. She lived in Belgrade Township, Nicollet County until 1982 when they moved to Lake George. She operated the Woodland Store until 1988, then Bonnie's Moccasin Shop until 2002. She then operated Bonnie's Diner from 2002 until she was diagnosed with cancer in 2005. Bonnie and her husband, Marlin founded the Lake George Blueberry Festival, which is an annual summer celebration in northern Minnesota. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and painting, cooking, singing, walking, Circle 8 Square Dancing, antiquing, doing puzzles, and her time with friends and family. Bonnie was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Bonnie is survived by four children, Keith (Cheri) Johnson of Aurora, Kevin (Julie) Johnson of Rice, Karen (Joe) Chester of North Mankato, Kirby Johnson and special friend, Robin Spry of Lake George; nine grandchildren; four siblings, Delbert (Charlotte) Kaiser of North Mankato, Harley (Vae) Kaiser of Backus, Wilma (Everett) Ufford of Phoenix, AZ, David (Lorrie) Kaiser of Apple Valley; brother-in-law, Riley Svihel of Oakdale; sister-in-law, Lorraine Johnson of North Mankato; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marlin in 2006; two sisters, Virginia "Ginny" Farm and husband, Robert; Beverly Svihel; brother-in-law, Stanley Johnson; nephew, Sam Kaiser.
