Joyce G. (Lee) Hiller, age 93, of Mankato, formerly of Rapidan, died Friday December 2, 2011 at Hillcrest Health Care Center, Mankato.
Funeral Service will be held 2:30 p.m., Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Rapidan. Visitation will be held 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Sunday. Burial will be in Calvary Lutheran Cemetery, Rapidan. Memorials may be given for perpetual care of Calvary Lutheran Cemetery or a charity of choice.
Joyce Gudrun Lee was born July 27, 1918 in Rapidan Township, Blue Earth County to Andrew and Clara (Shellum) Lee. She graduated from Rapidan High School, attended St. Olaf College, and graduated from Mankato Commercial College. Joyce was united in marriage to Marvin E. Hiller of Good Thunder on November 26, 1940. They lived and farmed near Rapidan. To this union, one daughter was born. After Marvin's death in 1983, Joyce moved to Mankato. For twenty years she faithfully traveled to Germany to visit her family.
Joyce dedicated her life to God, family, friends, and church. All those whose lives she touched, knew her as a gentle but strong soul. She will be remembered by many as an extraordinary lady.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Sharon Lee (Bruce) Rhoten of Hannover, Germany; two grandchildren, Sonja Lee (Timo) Bretschneider of Singapore; Markus Andre Rhoten of New York City; two great-grandchildren, Ana"s Lia and Kiran Timo Bretschneider of Singapore; sister-in-law, Ursula Hiller of Minneapolis; special friend, Rhea Maes and many close relatives.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin in 1983; parents, Andrew and Clara; three half sisters; two half brothers; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
