Harriet N. Hiller, age 91 of Richfield and formerly of Good Thunder, died Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Martin Luther Care Center in Bloomington.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder; Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer Jr. officiating with burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Wednesday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.
Harriet N. Hiller was born April 14, 1920 in Mankato, Minnesota to Clarence and Elvira (Spong) Christopherson. She graduated from Good Thunder High School and attended Mankato Commercial College. Before marriage, Harriet was a secretary for the Standard Oil Company in Mankato. In later years she worked for Happy Dan's in Good Thunder, but her most important job was as wife, homemaker, and mother.
Harriet was united in marriage to Verne Hiller on April 8, 1945, at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder. Harriet was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church belonging to choir, bible class, Ladies Aid, quilters and altar guild. Other interests included mother's club, sewing club, card club, gardening, bird watching, and Gopher football.
Harriet is survived by her children, Barbara (Bob) Wandberg of Minneapolis; Bill (Louise) Hiller of Minneapolis; Joan (Mark) Warne of Golden Valley; Denise (Randy) Urban of Amboy; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Christopherson of Minneapolis; sister-in-law, Viola Hiller and brother-in-law, Ben Pietrowiak.
Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, Verne, November 20, 1978.
