John Anthony Marka, age 81 of Mankato, died Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato.
Private family services will be held. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Mankato Mortuary handled the arrangements.
Jack was born on January 7, 1930 in Mankato. He was the son of Anthony and Mildred (Schultz) Marka. Jack was a graduate of Loyola High School in Mankato and was educated in banking. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard during the Korean War. Jack was a bank examiner for First Bank Systems until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato and the American Legion. Jack's hobbies included coin collecting and growing roses. In his earlier years, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and hunting.
Jack is survived by his two sisters, Betty Joerg of Mankato and Yvonne (Raymond) Krause of Lake Washington; nieces and nephews, William (Paloma) Joerg of Galena, MO, Richard Joerg of Mankato, Michael Joerg of Big Lake, Steven (Nancy) Joerg of Gretna, NE, Robert (Julie) Joerg of Mankato, Tom (Patty) Krause of Mendota Heights, and Nancy Laak of Scottsdale, AZ; also many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Carroll Joerg.
