Elvin Roy Junker, age 78, of Mankato died Saturday, October 29, 2011 at his home.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, North Mankato. Burial will be in Minneopa Cemetery, rural Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Friday. Memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, or donor's choice.

Elvin was born July 15, 1933 to Rudolph H. and Agnes (Duerksen) Junker in Mountain Lake, Midway Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota. He graduated from Mountain Lake High School in 1952. He served his country with the U.S. Army from 1953-55 in Europe. On September 30, 1957, Elvin was united in marriage to Sonja E. Svalland in Mountain Lake. They were blessed with eight children. Elvin worked for Studebaker and Clements (both of Mankato), Sears Automotive, and Kato Engineering until retiring in 1999. He was a real handyman who enjoyed visiting with people. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes. Elvin also enjoyed collecting old cars, traveling in his motor home, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Elvin is survived by a very special friend, Shirley Hanten; four daughters, Rhonda (John) Paulson of Mankato, Brenda Adams, and Lisa (Brian) Hasher all of Mankato, Lori (Patrick Roemhildt) Junker of Lake Crystal; four sons, Keith (Nancy) Junker of Berthoud, CO, Kevin Junker of Farmington, Eljo (Susan) Junker of Magnolia, TX, and Jason (Tanya) Junker of Lake Crystal; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Iona (James) Hovdet of Butterfield; two brothers: Ralph (JoAnn) Junker of Butterfield and Glen (Joanne) Junker of St. James; and many nieces and nephews.

Elvin was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Sonja on March 21, 2000.
