Cary J. Howerton, age 56 of Mankato passed away quietly on October 15, 2011, surrounded by his family at Hillcrest Health Care Center, Mankato.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Mankato Mortuary with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
Cary was born August 3, 1955 to Avis Frizvold (Moon) and was adopted by Elvis and Meldina (Nicholson) Howerton. He was raised in Sedalia, Missouri where he lived until moving to Lake Crystal. He lived and worked in the Mankato area the remainder of his life. Cary was always a kid at heart. He loved to hunt with his brothers, fish, target practice, listen to country and gospel music and spend time with his family. His giggles, smiles, and hugs will be missed by all. He left many friends and loved ones behind.
Cary is survived by his wife, Dianne Howerton; two sons, Chris (Lynn) Howerton, Caleb (Stephanie) Howerton all of North Mankato; step-daughter, Stacy Nelson of Mankato; three grandchildren; sister, Valorie (Thomas) Franklin of Sedalia, MO; brothers, Marty (Lori) Moon of Lake Crystal, Glen Moon of New Ulm, Scott (Vicki) Moon of Mankato, sister, Gail Riewe and life partner, Dean Anderson of Lake Crystal; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
Cary was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
