Suzanne Marie Pothast, age 72, of Mankato, died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Keystone Communities of Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 24, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato, with Rev. John Kunz officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Sunday at North Mankato Mortuary - NORTHVIEW, 2060 Commerce Drive, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.

Suzanne was born on December 22, 1938 in Delphos, OH. She was the daughter of Bernard and Ruth (Haunhorst) Kill. Sue was a 1956 graduate of Delphos St. John's High School and received training at St. Rita's School of Nursing in Lima, OH. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Robert Pothast on November 28, 1959 in Delphos. Sue was a homemaker for her family. Following their move to Mankato in 1986, Sue volunteered for the Immanuel - St. Joseph Hospice Program. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Sue enjoyed reading, flowers and gardening, and following her children and grandchildren's activities.

Sue is survived by her husband, Robert of Mankato; eight children, Mark (Irina) Pothast of Kazakhstan, Ben (Lori) Pothast of Lake Zurich, IL, Laura Pothast of Pine City, MN, Kay (Beth) Pothast of Chicago, IL, David (Cheryl) Pothast of Toronto, Canada, Matt (Rachel) Pothast of Park Ridge, IL, Andy (Jenny) Pothast of Sheboygan, WI, and Mike (Sarah) Pothast of Duluth, MN; nine grandsons and one granddaughter; two brothers, Robert (Pat) Kill of South Bend, IN and Denny (Marlene) Kill of Fort Wayne, IN; two sisters, Linda (Gene) Hilvers of Delphos, OH and Cindy (Denny) Elwer of Delphos, OH; also many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
