Edna Alma Schweim, age 97, of Mankato, died March 23, 2010 at Oaklawn Health Care Center.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 26, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato. Burial will be at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice.
Edna was born April 25, 1912 in Rapidan Township to Ernest and Paulina (Reinke) Matzke. She attended school in Rapidan Township. Edna was united in marriage to Arthur E. Schweim at Immanuel Lutheran Church on December 15, 1932. She lived in Lime Township from 1932 until 1968 when they moved to Eagle Lake. Arthur died in September of 1970 and Edna moved to Mankato in 1994. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Ladies Auxiliary, two birthday clubs, the Inn Towners Extension Club, the Oaklawn Health Care Center Bell Choir and was an honorary member of the Golden Eagles. Edna enjoyed ceramics, traveling, and visiting with her grandchildren.
Edna is survived by her three daughters, Norma (Luverne) Lueck of Eagle Lake; Ann (Harold) Johnson of Mankato; Carol (Dale) Brenner of Mankato; one son, Paul (Amalia) Schweim of Owatonna; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Arthur Matzke; Marvin (Esther) Matzke; many nieces and nephews.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband in 1970; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother; one sister; one half-sister.
