Florence LaJune Wagner, age 93 of Mankato, died Monday, March 15, 2010 at Pathstone Living Community in Mankato.
Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 25, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. John Kunz officiating. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the Church on Thursday. Memorials are preferred to the American Red Cross or the American Cancer Society. Mankato Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Florence was born on March 25, 1916 to Edward and Ada (Bowe) Mountain in Good Thunder, MN. She graduated from Good Thunder High School in 1934 and went on to attend St. Luke's in Duluth where she received an RN degree. She was united in marriage to Harold Carey on November 23, 1940. The couple was blessed with a son, Michael Carey. The family lived in Hawaii, England, and in Virginia while Harold served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy. He was killed in action on July 4, 1943 and Florence proceeded to move to Mankato, MN. She worked at St. Joseph's Hospital as a nurse. She was married to Warren Wagner on June 17, 1946 and they had a son, Paul Wagner. Florence worked and volunteered for the American Red Cross. She was a longtime member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato and most recently was attending church at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, crocheting, and especially spending time with her family.
She is survived by a brother, Fr. Edward Mountain of Owatonna; daughter-in-law and son-in law, Joyce and Allen Anderson of Paynesville; daughter-in-law, Kristina Wagner of Perth, Australia; grandchildren, Beth (Dan) Flittie of St. Paul, Irik (Mindy) Anderson of Queenstown, New Zealand, and Jason (Heather) Anderson of Aurora, CO; great-grandchildren, Tatyana and Annika Flittie, Aren and Soren Anderson; brothers-in-law, Robert Wagner of San Antonio, TX, and Jerry (Delores) Wagner of Mankato.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harold and Warren; children, Michael and Paul; and brother, Fr. Harold Mountain.
