Daniel Joseph Havens, age 63, of Mankato, died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Mankato Mortuary, with Chaplain Jacek Soroka officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to CaringBridge.Org. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in S. Glens Falls, NY.
Dan was born on June 20, 1946 in Glens Falls, NY. He was the son of Robert and Mary (Rozell) Havens. Dan was a 1964 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Glens Falls and a 1968 graduate of Providence College in Providence, RI. He was united in marriage to Sandra Lazarus on May 31, 1969 in Glens Falls. Dan and Sandy moved to Mankato in 2004. He was employed as a Logistics Manager with H.J. Heinz, Inc. in Muscatine, IA and Le Center, MN and received the Heinz Hero Award in 2002. Dan enjoyed music, gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
Dan is survived by his wife, Sandy of Mankato; two sons, Scott Havens and his partner, Andrew McHugh of Kalamazoo, MI and Christopher (Tonya) Havens of Troy, NY; mother, Mary Havens of Queensbury, NY; one sister, Barbara (Richard) Jones of Queensbury, NY; close friends, Janet Ryan of Wilton, NY and Arlys Youngberg of Waseca; also nieces, nephews, great niece and great nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Havens and parents-in-law, Herman and Frances Lazarus.
