Elaine M Fields

Elaine Marcella Fields, age 81 of Mankato, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.

Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato with Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Elaine was born on January 23, 1929 in Mankato, MN to Edward and Anna (Haefner) Hund. She grew up in Mankato and was a 1947 graduate of Mankato Loyola High School. She was united in marriage to Lyle Fields on September 25, 1947. The couple made their home in North Mankato and Elaine was a bookkeeper for various Mankato businesses as well as taking care of her family. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato and was a former religious education teacher. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, genealogy, crossword puzzles, shopping trips with grandchildren and spending summers at the lake cabin.

Elaine is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lyle of Mankato; children, David (Molly) Fields of Mankato, Lynn (Patrick) Reed of Mankato, Dale Fields of Clemons, IA, and Leslie Fields of St. Peter; grandchildren, Becky Cromwell, Catherine Fields, Paty Fields, Bridget "Sook Ja" Nam, Jennifer (Nate) Huettl, Michael (Jenny) Reed, Rachel (John) Kinny, Erin (Rob) Erhlich, Lisa (Gothan) Krocak, Joleene Patterson (Michael Bowe), Daniel Patterson (Sheyna McCarthy); nine great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Winkler of Baudette; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Irene; brother-in-law, Norris; numerous aunts and uncles.
