Dolores C. Hiniker, age 90, of Mankato died Friday morning, January 15, 2010 at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato, with Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor's choice. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.
Dolores was born on October 20, 1919 in Mankato to Edward and Henrietta (Wandersee) Guentzel. She attended country school in Lime Township. She was united in marriage to Harold Hiniker on November 28, 1939 in Mankato. They made their home in Mankato, where she was a homemaker for her family. Dolores had been an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She enjoyed being with her family, going out to eat, flowers, reading the newspaper, and her pet dogs.
Survivors include her two daughters, Janice Stewart of Shakopee and Kathy (Joe) Avina of North Mankato; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Paul Washa of Mound; a sister, Florence (Kenneth) Hiniker of Mankato; three sisters-in-law, Marge Guentzel of Mankato, Phyllis Hiniker of North Mankato, and Mary Ann (Arlo) Kelly of Madelia; a brother-in-law, Charlie Farr of North Mankato; also several nieces and nephews.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; daughter, Jeanne Washa; grandson, Gregory Marti; three sisters, and two brothers.
