Shirley A. Wannarka, age 71, of rural Mankato died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Funeral Service 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Mankato Mortuary with Fr. John Wilmot, officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday at Mankato Mortuary with a 4 p.m. prayer service and will continue one hour before service at church on Saturday. Burial will be in Minneopa Cemetery, rural Mankato. Memorials are preferred to the family.
Shirley was born January 17, 1939 to William and Hattie (Lampers) Bettin in Sherburn. Shirley was united in marriage to Patrick J. Wannarka on September 13, 1956 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. She was a homemaker for her family. Shirley was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking and entertaining and traveling.
Shirley is survived by children, Joe (Kim) Wannarka of Vernon Center, Jim Wannarka of Mankato, Jeanette (Jeff) Emge of Faribault, John (Tonya) Wannarka of Madison Lake, Jason Wannarka of Mankato; five grandchildren, Sarah, Jordan, Michael, Nathan, and Aron; three great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Wannarka of Winthrop, Marjorie Wannarka of Mankato, and Nancy (Gene) Kapusta of Milwaukee, WI; nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Patrick on December 9, 1998.
