Frances L. Phelps, age 91 of Mankato, died Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Laurels Edge in Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Jay Dahlvang officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials are welcome to Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Frances was born December 15, 1918 in Winnet, Montana to Franklin and Lydia (Krueger) Jones. The family moved from Montana to South Dakota where she graduated from High School. After high school she attended Mankato Commercial College. She was united in marriage to Frank "Mickey" Phelps on February 3, 1948 in San Francisco, CA. The couple moved back to Mankato to start their family. Frances worked as a bookkeeper for Gazzola, Morken, Wolf and Etter Accounting Firm.
She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato. Frances enjoyed golf and was an avid bridge player.
Frances is survived by two sons, David (Patricia) Phelps of St. Louis Park, MN, Daniel (Lyn) Phelps of Coon Rapids, MN; three grandchildren, Nathan (Julie) Phelps of Green Bay, WI, Jeffrey and Christopher Phelps of Coon Rapids, MN; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank in 2006; three sisters, Mary, Helen, and Ruth; one brother, Howard.
