Darwin "Dick" Gene Anderson, age 77 of Mankato, died Friday, August 13, 2010 at Immanuel " St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 16, 2010 at Mankato Mortuary, with Rev. Jim Ahlquist officiating. Burial will be in Tivoli Cemetery, rural Mankato. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at Mankato Mortuary. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
Darwin Gene Anderson was born October 6, 1932 to Earl and Stella (Hoseck) Anderson in Pipestone, Minnesota. He graduated from Pipestone High School. Darwin was united in marriage to Delilah Mohlmann on August 6, 1950 in Pipestone. She died September 10, 2004.
Darwin was employed with Southwestern Coop. Electric REA in Pipestone, Minnesota for 10 years, and then worked for BENCO Electric in Mankato for 34 years as a crew chief lineman. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, trap shooting, snowmobling, and Indian memorabilia. He was a member of the Mankato Moose Lodge.
Darwin is survived by seven children, Debra Anderson of Eagle Lake, Richard Anderson of Mankato, Diane (Steve) Riese of Eagle Lake, Kimberly (Steve) Shamp of Mankato, Sue (John) Weston of Mankato, David Anderson of Eagle Lake, and James (Jerrie) Anderson of Waseca; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Larry Allen of Mankato; one sister-in-law, Darlene Anderson of Pipestone; also many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delilah; one brother, Lloyd.
